What our Initiatives aim to achieve

The Future Economy Incubator works for radical change to the global economic system. We seek a world where economic activity serves society and nature in all their diversity.

Economic decolonisation is central to our mission.

The Future Economy Incubator steps outside the system, away from the confining limits of what is considered politically feasible now, to imagine, and then help to shape, economic systems transformation.

We collaborate to develop proposals for change that respond to and support broad-based social justice movements and ‘outside-the-system’ change makers. We see this as a vital part of building political momentum and political muscle for deep change.

Our strategy is to connect radical ideas with the real energy for change. Communications, outreach and building unusual connections are key elements of our work. We incubate ideas, strategies and campaigns, acting as a convenor, connector and hub.

Our Three Pillars

  • Building new spaces for collaboration

    It is vital to create spaces for individuals and groups to be liberated from formulaic thinking and short-term policy change approaches, to imagine, shape and socialize radical ideas and proposals. We work with others to create these spaces.

  • Advancing alternative thought leadership

    We create and co-create well-worked-out proposals for change. Working with a broad network of communications experts and in multiple languages, we share ideas and amplify others.

  • Building power outside the system

    Changes to the dominant economic systems will only occur if they are driven by a broad-based movement. We develop proposals for radical change to the economic system in partnership with social movements and outside-the-system activists and in a way that energizes and strengthens their work.
